ARCHITECTURE & CULTURE 301

I slept at 5am on the morning of  May 6th. And I woke up at 9am. went off to catch the 10am bus, submitted my tutorial paper, and back to waiting for the bus back 30 minutes later. All because of this particular subject.

Culture subject is one of those subject that I used to wonder why is it one of the core paper for this Architecture Science course. After Culture 201 (which comes after Culture 101 & Culture 102, and before Culture 202, 301 & 302.), it's then I realized the reason why it is compulsory. I start to liek it even. I dont feel forced to listen to the lectures.

Architecture & Culture thought us the many beautiful architecture around the world. The origin of the School of Architecture & Build Environment. The founding father of modern architecture. The meaning behind the WHY this X building/house is like that. There's a reason for every carvings, the reason for every nook & cranny.

This semester, the big question is 'Malaysian Architecture & its Identity Crisis'. Does Malaysia have it's own architecture identity. Shanghai World Expo 2010 is to be held soon. The theme this year is PAVILLION. It is where And Malaysia submitted this:

And HERE is the link to see the professional review on it.

Wanna se what the other countries have to offer???

All of these are submitted by countries such as Russia, Belgium, Germany & etc.

There's even Pavillions by fellow Asian countries. Pakistan, India, and neighbouring countries, Singapore & Thailand.

What do you say?

DOES MALAYSIA HAVE THEIR OWN ARCHITECTURE IDENTITY?

OR DO YOU AGREE WITH ME THAT MALAYSIA HAVE IDENTITY CRISIS IN TERMS OF ARCHITECTURE?
